چکیده

Generally, the maintenance of asphalt pavements contributes a significant portion national capital countries. Rutting and cracking cause extensive damage to pavements, although fatigue cracks are more common in pavements. Adhesion bonding between layers among factors that affect durability pavement play major function maintaining integrity pavement. On other hand, using nanomaterials is regarded as one options improve properties performance bitumen. Therefore, this study aimed evaluate behavior containing nanosilica modified tack coat (NSMTC). To aim, it was used four-point bending (4 PB) beam test. The loading semisinusoidal type with 10 Hz frequency, without rest, at temperature 20°C. controlled strain state (at three levels 400, 550, 700 ??) implemented. results revealed increased life specimen NSMTC. At different (i.e., ??), beams NSMTC by 18, 15, 57%, respectively. Furthermore, cumulative dissipated energy specimens 37, 42, 60% compared unmodified (UMTC) for ??,

Evaluation of Fatigue Properties of Asphalt Mixtures Containing Reclaimed Asphalt using Response Surface Method

This paper presents the effects of different amounts of reclaimed asphalt on fatigue life of asphalt mixtures. Central composite method was used to design of experiments based on response surface method (RSM). Binder type (Pen 60/70 and Pen 85/100), reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) content (25, 50 and 75%) and loading strain (150, 250 and 350 micro strain) were selected as independent variables...

Influence of Setting Time of Tack Coat on Bond Strength of Bituminous Paving Layers

Poor adhesion between two successive bituminous layers causes adverse effects on the structural strength of the pavement and develops a numbers of premature failure. To improve the adhesion, it is a general practice to apply a tack coat over an existing or newly constructed bituminous surface before laying another bituminous layer. The main objective of this study is to explore the influence of...

Rheological Properties and Chemical Bonding of Asphalt Modified with Nanosilica

The objective of this study is to evaluate the rheological properties and chemical bonding of nano-modified asphalt binders blended with nanosilica. In this study, the nanosilica was added to the control asphalt at contents of 4% and 6% based on the weight of asphalt binders. Superpave binder and mixture tests were utilized in this study to estimate the characteristics of the nano-modifed aspha...

Fatigue Behavior Analysis of Asphalt Mixes Containing Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) Steel Slag

This research was conducted in order to evaluate fatigue behavior of asphalt mixes containing Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steel slag. After initial evaluation of the properties of EAF steel slag using X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electric Microscope (SEM), six sets of laboratory mixtures were prepared. Each set were treated replacing various portions of limestone aggregates of the mix wi...
